Most Used Email Clients Worldwide
Today, people all over the world have a host of email clients to choose from.
According to the latest data, as of January 2022, the two most used email clients in the world are Apple and Gmail. At 57.16 percent, Apple has the majority of the email client market share. It’s used by more than half of the world’s email users to send and receive emails.
Apple’s market share has actually been increasing over the past few months. It was at 50 percent in September 2021 before inching up to 54.2 percent in November 2021.
For some to win, others must lose. Currently, the Gmail market share is at 30.17 percent. In other words, just under one in three email users in the world use Gmail, which is owned by Google. However, Gmail’s email client market share has dipped recently, falling from 35.2 percent in September 2021 to 31.63 percent in November 2021, before falling further the following month.
Even though it’s the second-most popular email client, Gmail’s market share is still a significant 26.99 percentage points behind Apple’s.
Together, Apple and Gmail make up a whopping 87.33 percent of the total email client market share.
The third-most popular email client is Microsoft’s Outlook. It’s used by 4.44 percent of email users worldwide. Like Gmail, its market share has also been decreasing, falling from 5.36 percent in September.
Fourth on the list of the most used email clients is Yahoo! Mail, which has a market share of 2.61 percent. This is followed by Google Android, with 1.94 percent, and Outlook.com, with 1.01 percent.
